Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to offer up-to-date knowledge in the field of psychology of cognitive development of the entire life cycle with explicit reference to the scientific research conducted in the area of theory of mind.
At the end of the course the student will be able to analyze a scientific article, communicate the results present in it and carry out a critical analysis of the literature.

Course Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of developmental psychology and cognitive psychology corresponding to the courses of Developmental Psychology and General Psychology

Teaching Methods

Lectures will be in presence. Power point presentations will be used and will be uploaded in the section dedicated to teaching on the KIRO platform.

For each CFU (20 hours) is expected
4 hours of teaching in DE delivery mode, i.e frontal teaching (content presentation via slides, scientific papers and videos)
2 hours of interactive teaching - DI (guided exercises, small group work between peers, role-play, critical discussion in a small group on topics provided by the teacher)
14 hours of self-study on the texts of the course bibliography, on the slides provided and on the scientific articles indicated
Meetings with the tutor for monitoring and self-evaluation of the knowledge acquired are scheduled

To facilitate inclusive teaching, the teacher offers up to two hours of office hours per week, available by appointment.

Assessment Methods

The exam will be held in a written form with open and close questions.
The student is required to accept the mark obtained in the last session taken.

Contents

The course is divided into a general part and a monographic part. In the general part the main approaches to the study of cognitive development and the related investigation methodologies will be presented. The monographic part will deal with the topic of socio-cognitive development over a lifetime with particular reference to the development of the theory of mind. Evaluation tests and intervention programs will be presented for the different developmental phases.

The contents of the course will be addressed taking into consideration the ethical-deontological principles.
