The course aims at giving the student an analytical background knowledge for the selection and application of a chemical measuring method, experimental data processing and critical evaluation of the results.
Course Prerequisites
Basic knowledge acquired from the courses of General and Inorganic Chemistry and stoichiometry, Calculus and topics in statistics.
Teaching Methods
Classroom lectures and exercises, including problem-solving with discussion and the use of Microsoft excel. Practical experiments in the lab. For students with specific needs who are unable to attend in-person teaching activities and who have applied for Inclusive Teaching Methods, appropriate learning materials will be made available to support effective independent study. If requested, self-learning can be supported by tutoring sessions, supplementary teaching activities, and dedicated meetings, including online sessions, with flexible scheduling according to individual needs.
Assessment Methods
Written test (2 h) with exercises and problems on data treatment, calibration curve and chemical equilibria in solution, and an open question. Written report of the laboratory experiences. The evaluation is based on the written report and on results obtained on unknown samples. Appropriate exam methods are provided for students who fall within the categories defined for Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) and Special Educational Needs (SEN).
