This course aims at developing knowledge and understanding in several key areas of developmental psychology: a)Advanced comprehension of theoretical models and the interpretation of experimental data with reference to cognitive development and theory of mind development. b) Profound understanding of the methods and experimental techniques employed within the field of cognitive development and theory of mind. c) Ethical and deontological awareness necessary for conducting experimental procedures in the area of cognitive development. Furthermore, the course aims to cultivate the ability to apply this knowledge and understanding effectively by: a) enhancing proficiency in executing and assessing applications within experimental contexts i b) advancing students’ competences in executing and evaluating applications within clinical environments in the area of developmental psychology and theory of mind c) promoting of critical thinking, analytical prowess, and the synthesis of ideas d) reflecting and using ethical principles in practical applications and research endeavors in developmental psychology
Prerequisiti
The course prerequisites include a basic knowledge of developmental psychology. Prospective students should be familiar with the fundamental concepts in this field to effectively benefit from the course and learning materials.
Metodi didattici
Teaching methods include typical lectures about theory of mind , as well as direct experience with paradigms and tasks design. Students will be strongly encouraged to take part and to actively participate in discussions.
Verifica Apprendimento
The exam will be a written assessment (open questions plus forced choice questions) on a scale of 30 points. The exam will cover all the topics discussed during the course, as well as those proposed in the textbooks indicated in the syllabus. from 0 to 10 points will be given to each open questions. One point will be given to each correct forced choice question.

The course covers the topic of changes in children’s socio-cognitive understanding (mainly framed as theory of mind). The main contents are: -theoretical approaches to the study theory of mind - age-related changes in theory of mind -individual differences in theory of mind -cognitive and social predictors of theory of mind - cognitive and social consequences of theory of mind - theory of mind tasks - theory of mind training programs
