Overview

Date/time interval

Primo Semestre (01/10/2025 - 16/01/2026)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

The main aims of the course are : 1) give to students the fundamental knowledge of electric and electronic apparatuses, used for the analysis of biological systems;
2) give to students the ability to apply the principles and laws of Physics to specific problems, with particular reference to phenomena involving electric and electronic laws applied to the human body and to its responses to mechanic, thermal and electric stimuli.
At the end of the course the students have to :
1) identify the physical quantities that are involved in the description of electric and electronic phenomena and apparatuses;
2) to outline an electric and/or electronic apparatus; 3) to formulate the laws that regulate the working principles of the analyzed apparatuses, representing then in analytical or graphical form when necessary.

Course Prerequisites

Preparatory topics of mathematics, learnt during High School and partially revised in the course "Applied Physics". Preparatory topics of Physics acquired in the course "Applied Physics", in particular : Mechanics (Kinematics and Dynamics), Fluids (Statics and Dynamics), Thermodynamics, Electricity (charge, force, field, potential energy, electric potential, capacitors, resistors, generators, Kirchhoff laws, Ohm's laws).

Teaching Methods

Presentation and comments of projected slides; possibility for students to ask questions and discuss specific topics during the lecture

Assessment Methods

Written quiz regarding all the course program and open questions.
