Overview

Date/time interval

Secondo Semestre (02/03/2026 - 19/06/2026)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

1. Knowledge and understanding: recognizing the various body districts studied in CT and their basic anatomy on axial images.
2. Applied knowledge and understanding: apply to the study of different districts CT reconstructions appropriate to the district and to the diagnostic question, identifying and filling any deficiencies of the protocol pre-set on the equipment.
3. Independent judgment: being able to evaluate the criteria of correctness / quality of the CT image for the different phases of an exam.
4. Communication skills: being able to promptly communicate to the Radiologist the presence of scans for which the criteria of correctness / quality are not respected and which require supervision.
5. Ability to learn: knowing how to self-evaluate, in different contexts (e.g. emergency and outpatients), if the execution of the CT exam with the addition of "functional" elements can increase the information load for the Radiologist.

Course Prerequisites

The training activity represents the first approach of the student to complex imaging modality (CT and MR) and therefore to better follow this training activity the student must:
- have attended the training activities "Anatomy and applied biology", "Physics, statistics and computer science" and "Biomolecular and functional foundations"; in this way the references to general anatomy and technique learned during these training activities can be applied to the TC.
- having passed the "Imaging Diagnostics I" exam; in this way the student has already faced and passed the finalized study of a basic radiological diagnostic modality.
- have participated in the "Professionalizing Internship I year"; in this way the student already has the fundamental elements of work organization in a radiology department.

Teaching Methods

The course is based on lectures with active participation of students in the analysis of images and their characteristics (quality, recognition of the district and basic anatomy).
The required frequency is 75% of the hours provided.
The teacher is available for clarifications on the topics covered in class.

Assessment Methods

The test can only be taken by those who have attended at least 75% of the lesson hours.
Oral exam.
It is possible to refuse the vote without appeal jump or other forms of penalization.
The result of the test is announced at the end of the oral exam and subsequently through the esse3 computer system.
