1) Know the techniques of fixation and inclusion of histological samples and the problems corelated to the pre-analytical phase. 2) Know the technical principles underlying the main histochemical stains used in pathological anatomy 3) Know the main practical applications of histochemical staining. 4) Know and describe the main immunohistochemical staining techniques 5) Describe the main practical applications of immunohistochemistry in diagnostic pathology.
Course Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the principles of general chemistry, anatomy and biology
Teaching Methods
Lectures and presentation of practical application of the different histochemical and immunohistochemical techniques. Professor is available for clarification on the topics of the program.
Assessment Methods
Oral exam with multiple questions aimed at ascertaining the knowledge acquired on the main histologic, histochemical and immunohistochemical techniques and their practical application. The assessment will also take into account the ability to communicate and use an appropriate scientific language.
Texts
