This module, which blends theory with interactive discussion of real-life complex cases, aims to introduce and discuss a wide range of ethical dilemmas within medical practice and clinical situations. Beginning with the emergence of Bioethics this module will introduce you to bioethical principlism, a widely adopted framework that guides ethical decision-making through the application of four core principles: respect for autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice. informed consent, end of life decisions and transplant medicine. The module will then, through discussion of clinical dilemmas in areas such as informed consent, end of life decisions and transplant medicine focus on the application of theory to practice.
