At the end of the course, the student will demonstrate: 1. a good knowledge of the biological mechanisms regulating eukaryotic cell growth and behaviour in culture.
2. a good understanding of the biological parameters reflecting cell health, growth and phenotype.
3. a good knowledge and understanding of the technologies applicable to assess cell behaviour and in vitro response.
4. the ability to apply the acquired knowledge to synthesise and interpret the scientific results presented in selected relevant scientific literature.
Prerequisiti
Good knowledge of biological mechanisms related to the cell cycle; embryogenesis; DNA structure and replication; transcription; translation; apoptosis; cell signalling.
Metodi didattici
Lectures and lab practicals supported by slide presentations. For some topics, multimedia animations will be used.
Verifica Apprendimento
The exam consists of a written test with a mix of questions such as multiple choice questions and open-ended questions. The student has to demonstrate not only knowledge of the topics covered but also the ability to link them together.
Testi
Scientific articles and reviews from selected international journals.
