Overview

Date/time interval

Secondo Semestre (16/02/2026 - 23/05/2026)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, students will be able to identify and recall the key institutions of public and constitutional law, with an understanding of their interactions with economic factors. They will be able to analyse the dynamics behind institutional life in accordance with constitutional provisions. Moreover, students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to critically assess legal developments within the Italian legal system from a constitutional perspective and to communicate their insights effectively using appropriate legal terminology.

Course Prerequisites

Not all students have previously taken law courses during their secondary education. Therefore, the course will introduce the fundamental notions necessary for a proper understanding of the topics addressed. The close connection between the subject matter and current events will facilitate comprehension and highlight the practical significance of the issues discussed.

Teaching Methods

The course will be delivered primarily through lectures, with active student participation encouraged via guided questions and discussions on current events relevant to the topics covered by the course. The professor may integrate digital platforms to enhance engagement and assess comprehension of key concepts. Selected Constitutional Court rulings and the Italian Constitution will be examined and discussed in class to reinforce learning outcomes.

Assessment Methods

Written exam. The exam will include 10 multiple-choice questions and 2 open-ended questions.
For the 6 CFU course, the exam will cover First and Second Parts of the syllabus.
For the 9 CFU course, the exam will cover the entire syllabus as indicated.
The purpose of the assessment is to evaluate both the student’s comprehensive understanding of the material and their ability to critically analyze the specific topics addressed during the course. The grading scale ranges from 0 to 30 with honors, with a passing score set at 18/30. Each multiple-choice question is worth 1 point (without penalty for incorrect answers), while each open-ended question is worth 10 points. Honors (Lode) may be awarded at the discretion of the examining committee.
Open-ended questions will be evaluated based on the student’s ability to analyze legal institutions, clarity of language, and completeness of exposition. Use of any supporting materials is not permitted during the exam. Exam results will be communicated via Esse3, and acceptance or rejection of the grade must follow the current University regulations.
