The course analyzes Japanese and Chinese domestic and foreign policies from 1945 to the present. 20 hours will be spent on Japan and 20 hours will be be spent on China. The course will begin with the analysis of politics, economics in postwar Japan. Domestic, foreign and foreign economic policies in Japan from 1945 to the present day. 20 hours. The second part of the course (20 hours) will analyze Chinese domestic and foreign policies under Mao Zedong from 1945 until the present day. 4-6 hours will be spent on the future and visions of Chinese regional and global foreign policies as seen by Chinese scholars and policymakers. For that part of the course the book China Dreams. 20 Visions of the Future will be used.
