The course aims to provide students with the fundamental tools to know and distinguish the different varieties of contemporary Italian and to correctly interpret and analyse written texts of different types and purposes. At the end of the course, students will have acquired the necessary skills to produce texts that are suitable for the communicative situations proposed in the lessons.
Course Prerequisites
The course is for second year students. As a prerequisite, the acquisition of the 9 ECTS OF VERBAL COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE OF THE MEDIA is required in the first year.
Teaching Methods
The course will be conducted through lectures, during which exemplary texts of various types will be read and commented upon, providing the necessary models for an exhaustive linguistic-textual analysis and for writing and rewriting exercises. Class attendance is strongly recommended. Students who, for justified and documented reasons, are unable to attend lectures regularly (see link https://portale.unipv.it/it/didattica/servizi-lo-studente/modalita-didattiche-inclusive) are invited to contact the lecturer in order to agree on suitable teaching methods and materials for independent examination preparation.
Assessment Methods
Learning is tested by means of a written test designed to ascertain the achievement of the learning objectives. The written test will consist of a series of open-ended questions and rewriting tests. The subject of the test will be: for those attending, the contents of the reference texts and lectures; for those not attending, the contents of the reference texts. For non-attending students, a special test will be prepared with open-ended questions relating to the texts indicated in the bibliography. Non-attending students are required, when registering for the call, to specify their intention to take the examination as non-attending students. For students with special and certified conditions (see link https://portale.unipv.it/it/didattica/servizi-lo-studente/modalita-didattiche-inclusive), a specific and customised examination programme may be prepared, to be agreed in advance with the teacher.
