The aim is to provide students with the tools to know and develop critical thinking about building types and currently applied construction technologies; the Course is focused on HOUSING. The purpose is to provide dimensional, functional, organizational and aggregative indications of the housing; afterwords the typological aggregation of houses in multi-family buildings will be the focus and, finally, the construction technologies will be investigated. The result is to provide students with all the knowledge necessary to design Housing.
Course Prerequisites
Students have to know and be able to interpret and use the methods of architectural drawing in order to understand both the building types and the construction technologies. This knowledge is also indispensable for developing the architectural project.
Teaching Methods
Lessons. Design activities to develop a Housing Building.
Assessment Methods
During the year, the students (divided into groups who will work with tutors) are called to design a Housing Building on an assigned plot of land. The required technical drawings move from general plans to building details and will have to express the creativity, the acquired skills to solve design issues and the ability to work in team. The project must be delivered two days before the oral exam and will be evaluated out of thirty. On the day of the exam, the students who have obtained at least 18/30 (in the project) will take the oral exam. The oral exam is mandatory and will focus on the topics covered during the year. The oral test, if sufficient, can confirm or increase the vote obtained with the group project.
