The course explores the main concepts of Public Law used in town planning, construction industry, and public works. At the end of the course, students will have acquired the tools necessary to understand and analyse the legal issues they will encounter in their professional lives and, more generally, in their everyday lives.

Teaching Methods
Classroom lessons. Practical case studies, through the examination of judgments and papers, with discussion of selected topics.
Assessment Methods
Oral exam. Students will also be assessed on their practical work, which will be integrated with the final oral exam.

Urban planning law - Sources of urban planning law: State and Regional laws - General principles - Competent authorities: the municipality and other public bodies - Town planning: general and implementation - Zoning, and general and specific urban planning standards - The distinction between expropriation provisions and regulatory provisions - Urban planning equalisation, compensation and building incentives 3. Building law - Public regulation of building activity - Types of building works and free building activity - Primary and secondary urbanisation works - Building permits, certified notification of commencement of works (S.C.I.A. and C.I.L.A.) - Compliance with safety standars - Intended use of the property - Supervision of building activity. The relationship between Administrative Law, Private Law and Criminal Law. 4. Public works law - Regulations governing public contracts for the execution of works of general interest - Planning and design of public works - Procedures for public procurements - Execution of public contracts and the involved parties 5. Real estate - Civil law aspects: purchase agreements and legal remedies - Public rules on real estate
