Overview

Date/time interval

Secondo Semestre (02/03/2026 - 12/06/2026)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

The laboratory aims to apply the knowledge of building thermophysics and thermal systems to the energy and systems design of buildings, both for new construction and renovation.
Expected learning outcomes: to provide guidance for the energy certification process of buildings and the selection of solutions for Nearly Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) and for interventions on existing buildings. Furthermore:
- Conduct energy diagnosis and understand the basic regulations for energy certification.
- Plan energy retrofit interventions and perform energy certification procedures.

Course Prerequisites

Knowledge of building envelope technologies, basic principles of mathematics, and physics. Course on Thermal Systems and Building Thermophysics

Teaching Methods

Classroom teaching activities and laboratory work involving collaboration for the preparation of a project

Assessment Methods

The examination consists of a written test with open-ended questions and multiple-choice questions, and the presentation of the project (energy retrofit/NZEB/Thermal bridges) for a case study, including a critical analysis of the energy characteristics

Texts

Legislative references, documentation provided by the teacher, educational videos.

More information

The course program corresponds to that provided by CENED-Lombardia for the accreditation of Energy Certifiers in the region. The Laboratory takes place in sequence with the course on Thermal Systems and Building Thermophysics (ITED), which is preparatory for the knowledge that students need to acquire or consolidate and therefore precedes the Laboratory. In the second semester, during the time slots allocated to both courses, the ITED course will be held first, followed by the Laboratory in the same schedule.
