To know how to formulate a correct diagnostic-therapeutic path for patients affected by diseases of medical and surgical relevance, both acute and chronic. To know how to recognize and formulate a correct diagnostic-therapeutic path for the patient with a clinical picture that is of an urgent nature. To know how to manage the doctor-patient and doctor-relative relationship with particular attention to gender issues and the cultural context of origin.
Course Prerequisites
The prerequisites for attending the 6th year internships are enrollment in the 6th year of Golgi Medicine and Surgery and completion of the professional internships planned for the 3rd, 4th and 5th year of the course of study.
Teaching Methods
The compulsory 6th year professional internship is carried out under the supervision of a tutor teacher; the student attends the departments to which he/she has been assigned during the daily round. The student may be assigned some tasks (collection of personal and family medical history, collection of objective examination) in support or in guided collaboration. He/she will be involved in filling out the medical record, in the discussion of the diagnostic and therapeutic process, he/she will be encouraged to formulate a differential diagnosis: in particular, he/she will be asked to indicate the most suitable biohumoral and instrumental investigations to reach the diagnosis, as well as to define the therapeutic path according to the most recent guidelines.
Assessment Methods
The teacher/tutor will have the task of verifying the achievement of the minimum objectives of the internship with a test agreed in advance with the student (discussion of a clinical case, multiple choice test, bedside check, etc.).
Texts
There are no specific reference texts for professional internships other than all the texts used for the clinical subjects of previous years and the current year (6th).
Contents
The mandatory internship required in the 6th year of the course is carried out mainly but not exclusively in the departments of Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesia and Resuscitation, Emergency Room, Obstetrics and Gynecology and contributes to the acquisition of 5 CFU. The mandatory internships are carried out in the morning, from Monday to Friday, according to methods agreed with the tutor. During the internship activity, the student will actively participate in the healthcare activity of the department or clinic and will be called upon to carry out some activities (objective examination, collection of anamnesis) in support or in guided collaboration.
