At the end of this course, the students will be able to perform simple laboratory activities in autonomous way. In particular, they will be able to perform simple reactions (both acid-base and redox), isolate and purify solids by recrystallization; perform volumetric analyses; prepare simple compounds (metal complexes and salts).
Course Prerequisites
basic mathematical knowledge (secondary school level)
Teaching Methods
Lectures
Assessment Methods
At the end of the laboratory course, the students will be invited to report on their practical activities. Questions about the laboratory will be also present in the final exam.
Texts
Material will be provided during the course and published on Kiro-UniPV platform.
Contents
Lectures will also illustrate the laboratory activities and techniques. The practical activities will include: i) purification of solids by re-crystallization; ii) volumetric analysis; iii) preparation of coordination compounds; iv) examples of redox and acid/base reactions.
