The course is aimed at providing knowledge on neuropsychopharmacology and endocrine pharmacology with a particular focus on pharmacological therapies applied to the main neurologic, psychiatric and endocrine pathologies. At the end of the course, the student should be able to recognize the main drugs that will be handled in a Pharmacy, and to apply the acquired knowledge.
Course Prerequisites
Be up to date with the preparatory exams. The themes that will be examined during the course require a basic knowledge on Biology and Pharmacology.
Teaching Methods
Taught classes by PowerPoint presentations, sometimes associated with videos. For each subject, the initial part is dedicated to a pathologic overview with the description of the main underlying molecular mechanisms. Subsequently, the drugs employed in therapy are examined. The teacher also tries to stimulate the students by asking some questions, also by using innovative tools (i.e, Wooclap). Practice exercises are not included.
For the students with specific needs, who cannot attend in person the educational activities and applied for “Modalità Didattiche Inclusive” (Inclusive Teaching Methods), an adequate teaching material will be available for a fruitful self-study. If requested, the self-learning may be supported by tutoring activities or by supplementary activities, and by dedicated meetings, also online, with a flexible schedule according to the needs.
Assessment Methods
Conditions to pass the exam: passing the final writing exam during one of the official exam sessions. For the students that attend the teaching classes (at least 75% of attendance), a pre-exam is also provided at the end of the course. The written exam includes both multiple choice questions and questions with a brief written answer. Each question has a score from 1 to 3. The total maximum score is 30. No points will be deducted in case of wrong answers. There will be also included a query in English for the "laude" achievement. The results will be published online, using the ESSE3 platform. Appropriate examination methods are planned for students who fall under the categories for Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) and Special Educational Needs (SEN).
