Course Objectives


The course, which also includes laboratory practices, aims to: provide the necessary technological and regulatory knowledges for galenic pharmaceutical forms preparation in pharmacies; impart knowledge suitable for pharmaceutical forms quality control.
Provide knowledge relating to the formulation, technological and regulatory aspects of cosmetic products.

Course Prerequisites


Student must have attended the courses “Tecnologia e Legislazione Farmaceutica I”
Student must have acquired the basic knowledge in pharmaceutical technology: pharmaceutical solids, liquids, and parenteral forms (regulatory and formulative aspects).

Teaching Methods


Theoretical lectures (total 7 CFU) will be integrated by laboratory practices (2 CFU divided into 2 CFU of individual laboratory activity concerning the preparation and pricing of galenic pharmaceutical forms and cosmetic forms and groups activity concerning the technological controls of pharmaceutical forms (dissolution and disgregation test, Friability test, crushing test).
For students with specific needs, who cannot attend the lectures and who have applied for Inclusive Teaching Methods, adequate teaching material will be available for a profitable independent study. If requested, self-learning can be supported by tutoring or supplementary teaching meetings, also online, with flexible hours depending on the needs.

Assessment Methods


One in itinere tests is provided at the end of the course.
To overcome the module occurs by passing the itinere test or by passing the final written examination in one of the official exam sessions. The final vote will be obtained from the average of written and laboratory examination.
Written test structure: open questions on technological and cosmetic part in equal number, for a total duration of 2 hours.
Final laboratory test structure: preparation and pricing of a galenic preparation.
The evaluation of the final examination is carried out in 30/30.
The final grade will be composed as follows: 70% written examination and 30% laboratory examination.
Appropriate examination methods are provided for students who fall into the categories of Specific Learning Disorders (DSA) and Special Educational Needs (BSE).

edition) and Simplified Preparation Practice.
Pharmaceutical technology controls of dosage forms: powders, granules, tablets, capsules, suppositories, transdermal patches, parenteral preparations, liquid preparations for oral use and semi-solid preparations for skin application, inhalation preparations.
Definition and classification of cosmetic products. European regulation of cosmetic products (EC 1223/2009).
Cosmetic ingredients (lipids, surfactants, emulsifiers, solubilizers, rheological modifiers, skin preservatives and antimicrobials, sequestrants, antioxidants, colorants, etc.) and their INCI nomenclature.
Principles of anatomy and physiology of the skin.
The physical forms of cosmetic formulations (hydrolytes, oleolites, tensiolites, gels, emulsions and anhydrous systems).
Skin cleansers, sun products, hair care cosmetics, vestibule and oral cavity cosmetics, glandular products, paido-cosmetics and anti-aging cosmetics
