The course is an introduction to the Renaissance, to Shakespeare, and to Macbeth. By the end of the course, students are expected to understand the context of the Renaissance, be familiar with Shakespeare, and be able to analyze Macbeth.
Course Prerequisites
Language level: B2 as recognised by the Common European Framework of Reference.
Teaching Methods
Lectures in English. Introduction to the period and the author will be followed by translation and analysis of selected texts.
Assessment Methods
Oral exam in English. During the exam, students will be asked to be able to discuss the Renaissance, Shakespeare and translate and analyse Macbeth.
Texts
William Shakespeare, Macbeth, The Arden Shakespeare, Third Series, Bloomsbury. Critical essays will be listed on KIRO (see below: 'Further information').
