This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of leadership and organizational behavior (OB), focusing on how individuals and groups behave within organizations. Upon successful completion, students should be able to:
• Demonstrate understanding of fundamental theories and principles of leadership and OB, and their application in organizational settings. • Understand the underlying causes of behaviors and feelings of individuals and groups within organizations. • Identify and implement strategies that enhance the attitudes, behavior, and overall effectiveness of members within an organization. • Understand the influence of organizational structure and culture on individual and group behavior. • Effectively operate within team settings. • Discuss and comprehend the sources of power for managers and employees, along with the relationship between power, authority, and obedience. • Discuss political behaviors within organizations and their ethical implications.

Teaching Methods
The course structure comprises a blend of lectures, case studies, and in-class discussions and exercises. Active participation from students is anticipated, with the expectation that they arrive prepared to discuss all assigned readings.
For students enrolled in the Inclusive Learning Modalities program (“Modalità didattiche inclusive”), the professor ensures up to 2 hours of weekly office hours, including online sessions, with flexible scheduling to accommodate individual needs. Students in this program are requested to contact both the instructor and the Degree Course Coordinator to assess specific needs and define targeted support actions.

Assessment Methods
Assessment for attending students is based on: • Individual contribution to class discussion/participation (20%) • Teamwork (30%) • Written exam (50%) For non-attending students: • Assessment is solely based on the written exam. The written exam comprises open-ended questions that require short answer and/or mini essay. For non-attending students, the written exam is based on the course textbook. It includes 6 open-ended questions and has a duration of one hour. For attending students, the written exam focuses on material discussed in class and available on the course's page on KIRO. It consists of 3 short answer questions and lasts 30 minutes.
Texts
Lecture slides and related materials will be made available on the KIRO platform. Case studies and required readings will be uploaded no later than one week before the corresponding class session. All materials found on KIRO will constitute the content for assessment purposes. In addition, students are encouraged to refer to the following textbook: French, R., Rayner, C., Rees, G., Rumbles, S. (2015), Organizational Behaviour, 3rd edition, John Wiley & Sons. The text is available at the University library.
