Course Objectives

The course aims to provide advanced knowledge on the criteria that guide corporate organizational choices, with particular reference to organizational design and the establishment and management of organizational culture. Ample space will be dedicated to organizational innovation issues, which also include diversity management and inclusion processes. Themes related to organizational change, organizational learning and the development of creativity will then be addressed. Finally, the issues related to conflict management, power and organizational politics will be analyzed.

Course Prerequisites

Understanding the topics covered during the course presupposes knowledge of the basic concepts of business organization (structure and organizational design), which will however be briefly reviewed at the beginning of the course. A fundamental prerequisite is the ability to develop personal ideas and opinions and to have a flexible and proactive approach to learning.

Teaching Methods

The course alternates lectures that are used to discuss the basic concepts with the students, and case studies aimed at applying the main organizational skills learned during the course. The intervention in the class of practitioners helps to bring students closer to the business world. Attending students will be asked to carry out a group work which is a further opportunity for learning and applying the theoretical notions learned.

Assessment Methods

The exam is written, consisting of a mix of multiple choice and open-ended questions (which also require critical thinking resulting from personal reflection). Attending students will also be asked to do a group project that will be evaluated. More information about the exam will be provided on the first day of class and uploaded to the Kiro platform.
