The module aims at introducing and familiarizing students with some concepts and analytical perspective related to understanding Public Administration organizations' characteristics and dynamics
Course Prerequisites
No specific prerequisite is requested, although at a basic knowledge in Sociology of Organization and/or Organization Science is useful.
Teaching Methods
Lectures will be delivered in the traditional frontal teaching modality. Lectures will be recorded and the recordings will be made available only to students of GATe Study Course
Assessment Methods
Exam will be in presence and consists in closed-answer test lasting 30 minutes

The didactic material for exam preparation is a text prepared by the teacher (dispensa) and some ancillary materials. All study materials will be nmade avilable on the KIRO platform dedicated to the course
Contents
Module's contents are related to: - Bureaucracy ideal-type (Weber) - Different types of Bureaucracy (mechanic and professional bureaucracy) - Unexpected effects of Bureaucracy (Merton; Crozier) - The organizational change dynamics, in general terms and specifacally for Public Administration organizations. - Specific organizational characteristics of Public Administration organizations in relation to other types of organizations. - Historical developmento of Public Administration in Italy
