Course Objectives

At the successful conclusion of this module, you should be able to demonstrate the following module level learning outcomes (MLOs):

At the end of this module, you should be able to:
MLO.1 Knowledge & Understanding
• Describe the anatomy of major organ systems, including thoracic, abdominal, pelvic, neural, and endocrine structures.
• Explain key spatial and functional relationships among organs.
MLO.2 Application of Knowledge
• Identify organs, vessels, and nerves in diagrams, models, and imaging.
• Apply system-based anatomy to basic functional or clinical examples.
MLO.3 Autonomy of Judgement
• Recognize normal and variant anatomy and select correct anatomical explanations.
MLO.5 Learning Skills
• Use learning resources to integrate regional and systemic anatomy.

Teaching Methods

Teaching methods include lectures, discussion and guided independent study. Lectures present key concepts (supports LO.1, LO.2) and include interactive discussion of clinical areas and research themes (supports LO.2-3). Teaching will include guidance to help you prepare for the exam (supports LO.5) and throughout you will be presented with references to further readings and other materials on the e-learning platform to support your development (supports LO.5).
Teaching on this course is enhanced by our visiting Professors, international experts, who will provide seminars on clinical and research areas (LO.3).

Contents

This module will introduce you to a system-based approach to anatomy with a focus on organ systems. Following an introduction of the module is structured into the following thematic sections: Thorax; Cardiovascular and Respiratory systems; Abdomen and Pelvis; Digestive, Urinary, and Reproductive Systems, Neuroanatomy, Endocrine System.
