Syllabus

Course Objectives

The objective of the coursei s to make everyone understand the importance and development potential of the horticultural sector at all levels. The instruction falls within the learning area of agricultural species production and management. Its purpose is to provide the necessary information for an independent and critical assessment of the horticultural sector, particularly in relation to cultivation, propagation, production planning, and the main factors influencing the quality of the productions.

Course Prerequisites

"Agronomy" and "Plants Physiology" studies.

Teaching Methods

Lectures will be held online and recorded, supported by PowerPoint presentations and video materials. Students will receive the slides in PDF format, which, together with additional resources, will serve as useful tools for preparing the final exam. Practical activities, such as laboratories and field trips, will instead take place in person. The program also includes seminars led by industry experts and technical visits to horticultural companies.

Assessment Methods

The final examination will take place through a written test and an oral presentation aimed at evaluating the student's knowledge of the topics covered during the lessons. The assessment of the students' tests is based on criteria that include: i) theoretical and practical knowledge acquired; ii) the ability to apply the acquired knowledge; iii) autonomy of judgment; iv) communication skills.

Contents

The topics of the course will be treated with the help of Power Point presentations and with the support of videos. Students will receive the pdf format of the frontal lesson with the addition of useful texts for their study to the images. Each lesson (ppt and pdf) will be enriched with curiosities, links, insights, exercises to be carried out and questions for self-verification.
Seminars, technical visits in the field and in leading companies will be carried out.
