Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide a solid understanding of the fundamental concepts of computer science and its practical application through the use of spreadsheets.

Students will develop the necessary skills to use spreadsheet software to solve real-world problems and perform data analysis. They will explore various advanced functions and tools of spreadsheets to optimize processes and improve calculation efficiency. Additionally, they will gain familiarity with creating charts and visual representations of data to facilitate communication and interpretation of results.

Usage of electronic spreadsheets. Basic functions, conditional constructs, and logical operators. Advanced functions. Pivot table construction. Data sorting, filtering, and grouping.
Macros in the spreadsheet. Macro concept definition. Recording and editing elementary macros. Basic syntax.
Spreadsheets and databases. Data import and export, supported formats, limits, and performance.
Data visualization. Creation and analysis of different types of charts.
Basic numerical methods. Numerical integration. Recommendation systems.
Laboratory exercises related to the studied functionalities using real data and applications.
