The Anatomage Table allows students to explore human anatomy in an immersive and realistic way, offering a three-dimensional visualization of body structures comparable to that of a real cadaver. Individual anatomical components are reconstructed in 3D with high accuracy and can be digitally sectioned, enabling a detailed analysis of both systematic and topographic anatomy. The main objective of the course is to introduce students to the use of the Anatomage Table, available at our University, highlighting its value as a teaching tool for the study of anatomy. Additionally, the course aims to provide students with an initial topographic approach to human anatomy through practical exercises using the digital table. The "Histology" section of the table will also be presented, allowing the visualization of numerous histological samples stained with different techniques, thus offering an additional tool for deepening the study of human tissues
Course Prerequisites
Basic course in general anatomy, with a systematic approach to the various systems and organs. General knowledge of human tissues.
Teaching Methods
The course includes a 2-hour introductory session covering the general features and functionalities of the digital table, followed by 6 hours of hands-on interactive sessions conducted directly at the Anatomage Table.
Assessment Methods
The final assessment will be based on a pass/fail evaluation. A multiple-choice questionnaire will be administered, focusing on the topics covered during the interactive sessions. The questions will assess both the general features of the Anatomage Table and key concepts of topographic anatomy.
Texts
- Anatomia Umana, di Saladin, ed.Piccin. - Anatomia umana di Frederic H. Martini, L. Cocco, e al., ed. EDISES.
Contents
This 1 CFU course aims to provide students with a topographic and multimedia approach to selected structures of the human body, such as the heart, the digestive system, and the respiratory and urinary systems. Using the infrared touch screen, students will be able to interact directly with the various tools of the Anatomage Table—performing virtual dissections, zooming in on details, visualizing histological samples and adding annotations. The high level of anatomical detail and rich educational content will enhance student engagement and focus, leading to measurable improvements in learning outcomes.
