At the end of the course, the students will possess the basic notions to understand the theoretical paradigms and methodologies of linguistics (from morphological aspects of words to the pragmatic interpretation of utterances), the approaches of psycho- and neuro-linguistics, and the methods of evaluation of linguistic deficits (in particular of the pragmatic deficit). They will also be able to apply the acquired knowledge to describe and analyze linguistic structures and communicative exchanges.
Course Prerequisites
This introductory course does not require prior knowledge on the topic.

Contents
The course will be divided into two parts. In the first part of the course, we will focus on specific aspects of language. The complex properties of language and its manifestations will be illustrated. We will discuss topics within the domains of morphology, lexicon, syntax, and, in particular, pragmatics. The second part of the course will be dedicated to approaches to language studies from the psycho- and neuro-linguistic perspectives. Methods and tools to evaluate language and linguistic skills will be introduced, with a detailed presentation of tools designed to describe the pragmatic deficit.
