The goal of the course is to give an introductory knowledge to the basic concepts in physics which find their application in all biomedical areas. Special attention shall be given to classical physics and to its concrete applications in biology and medicine.
Course Prerequisites
Students must be acquainted with the basic mathematical tools and concepts which are thought in a scientific high school. Among these we highlight in particular the scientific notation, exponentiation, first and second order algebraic equations, the exponential and the logarithmic function, trigonometry and units of measurement.
Teaching Methods
The course is based on face to face lectures during which the professor shall explain with the help of slides all topics at the heart of the course. The slides will be uploaded at the end of each lecture on the Kiro web platform
Assessment Methods
Students must take a written test divided in two parts. In the first one, one must answer to several multiple choice problems, while, in the second one, one must write a short paragraph aimed at testing the knowledge of one among the several theoretical topics, outlined during the course. If the written test has been passed with a grade higher or equal to 18, the student has the chance either to accept the result or to take an additional oral test, which can either improve or worsen the grade of the written test.
