Raise students' awareness of the fundamentals of the psychopathology of eating behavior and the most relevant issues in clinical practice with patients suffering from anorexia, bulimia, and BED.
Course Prerequisites
Students must have a basic understanding of the psychodynamic and clinical fundamentals necessary for the diagnostic assessment of a case, as well as the fundamentals of developmental psychopathology.
Teaching Methods
Lectures (on the clinical foundations of eating disorders, descriptive diagnostic frameworks, and treatment guidelines), and discussion of clinical cases presented by experts (in which to apply the knowledge acquired). For every 6 hours of teaching relating to 1 CFU, 4 hours are delivered in lecture format and 2 hours are interactive. Self-study: 14 hours.
Assessment Methods
Learning will be assessed through an oral exam. In this exam, students will have to demonstrate that they have assimilated the psychodynamic and clinical fundamentals of eating disorder psychopathology. The assessment criteria will focus on comprehensiveness, relevance, and clarity of presentation. Although students are free to waive a positive assessment, it is advisable not to refuse the grade more than once. In the event of refusal of a positive assessment and a subsequent assessment, the last assessment achieved will be considered.

The program will cover the field of so-called nutrition and eating disorders, analyzed from both a descriptive and structural perspective. Particular attention will be paid to the diagnostic framework, Particular attention will be paid to the diagnostic framework both from a descriptive perspective, with reference to the main international classification systems (DSM5 TR, ICD10, PDM2), and from a structural perspective specific to the psychoanalytic approach. The contents of the course on Psychopathology of Eating Behavior will be addressed taking into account the ethical and deontological principles which, depending on the specific topic, will be described in detail by the instructor, both from a theoretical point of view and with direct reference to practical activities (for example, through the discussion of case studies).
