The course aims to provide future medical professionals with the communication skills necessary to provide effective patient care. Medical genres and medical systems, relevant medical lexicon, use and functions of language will be presented to students. The course also includes the main stages of medical communication from initial history to physical examination, study, and diagnosis, as well as medical and surgical treatments. Doctor-patient relationships will be discussed, taking into account oral and written genres (a patient's medical history, presentation of symptoms, types of doctor-patient approach, medical records, etc.).
Course Prerequisites
B2+ of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, made up of language levels formulated by the European Council and adopted in many professional and didactic contexts throughout Europe.
