The course aims to provide students with the fundamental knowledge necessary for understanding and clinically assessing diseases of rheumatological interest. By the end of the course, the student will be able to understand: 1- the pathophysiology of rheumatic diseases, 2- the rationale behind the clinical, instrumental, and laboratory methodologies aimed at the diagnostic process, 3- the basics of the therapeutic approach.
Course Prerequisites
Knowledge of the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system. Fundamentals of biochemistry, immunology, and general pathology.
Teaching Methods
Lectures with slide presentations. Guided approach to clinical cases and diagnostic challenges.
Assessment Methods
The Rheumatology exam is conducted together with the Clinical Immunology exam through an oral interview. The instructor/examiner asks questions covering the content of both subjects. The exam is designed to assess not only the knowledge of individual pathologies but also the ability to communicate and use appropriate scientific language. The final grade reflects the overall evaluation of the two modules and represents the grade for the Integrated Course in Immune and Rheumatology Diseases. It is not permitted to register for or pass the two modules (Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology) that constitute the Integrated Course.

Classification of rheumatic diseases; in-depth learning of systemic inflammatory arthritides, connective tissue diseases, vasculitides, infective and microcrystalline arthropathies, osteoarthritis, extra articular rheumatisms, osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. The main autoinflammatory diseases of rheumatological interest will also be discussed.
