Abstract:
Dear Editor, (a) A 41‐year‐old man presented with a 1‐year history of multiple widespread yellowish, ovoid papular eruptions. (b) Lesions were in different evolutionary stages. Palms, soles, face and mucosae were spared. Itching was almost absent. Erythema was elicited upon rubbing the lesions. Blood count, tryptase and routine investigations were normal. Diffuse cutaneous mastocytosis pseudoxanthomatous variant was diagnosed by skin biopsy [(c) histological and (d) immunohistochemical evaluation]. The disease was stabilized with the use of antihistamines. Diffuse cutaneous mastocytosis pseudoxanthomatous variant is an extremely rare form of cutaneous mastocytosis.1 Furthermore, onset in such an acute and disseminated way in an adult is uncommon.2
