Abstract:
Displacement of the loosely encapsulated fluorescent indicator coumarine 343 (F) from a dicopper(II) cryptate enables the selective fluorimetric detection of the HCO3− ion (A) in water (see scheme, •○=Cu2+). The fluorophore is quenched when encapsulated, but displays its full emission when released to the solution
