Abstract:
The Satisfactio can be interpreted as a penitential poem harmonized with the deprecatio and enriched by elements taken from prayers and hymns, rhetorical devices such as topoi, exempla, and excursus, as well as the elegiac metre, and the references to the factual experience of his imprisonment.
