Abstract:
Abstract. Dino Jarach was a talented student of Benvenuto Griziotti. An orphan
of war, in his youth he briefly attended the Pavia School of Public Finance, and
collaborated with the Rivista di diritto finanziario e scienza delle finanze (Journal
of Financial Law and Public Finance). After the promulgation of Italian Racial
Laws (1938), he was forced to expatriate, taking refuge first in Holland and then
in Argentina, where he began a new life. The distance however did not break his
scientific and emotional relationship with Griziotti and the Pavia School. Jarach
was a cultured and cosmopolitan scholar of Financial Law. He taught at the
Universities of Córdoba, La Plata and Buenos Aires. In 1947, as a consultant to
the Minister of Economy of the Province of Buenos Aires, he was commissioned
to draw up the preliminary draft of the Tax Code of the Province, the first of the
Argentine Republic. The aim of this article is to reconstruct Jarach’s figure and
work through the documents of the Griziotti’s Archive in Pavia.
