Factors associated with girls cyber-victimization. A study on Health Behaviour in School-Aged Children data from Lombardy

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2021
abstract:
During adolescence girls are more cybervictimized than boys. The present study aims at investigating the risk-factors for cybervictimization among girls participating at Health Beahviour in School Aged Children protocol (HBSC, 2014) (N = 1535, mean age = 13.74). Psychological and physical symptoms' frequency, being victim of bullying, Social Networks' use frequency, type of connection via smartphone, and perceived weight resulted positively related to cybervictimization. On the other hand, a negative association between actual weight and cyber-victimization emerged. Implications for preventative strategies and intervention will be discussed. © 2021 Societa Editrice il Mulino. All rights reserved.
