Syllabus
Obiettivi Formativi
The educational objectives of the course are as follows:
- To provide students with the necessary understanding of the scope and function of operations management and global supply chain theory and
practice.
- To offer students the essential understanding regarding the strategic role of digital technologies in optimizing global supply chains, and how decision-makers can effectively manage these changes.
- To equip students with the necessary understanding of "how to" design and manage resilient global value chains.
- To stimulate students' critical thinking and awareness by comprehensively examining the intricate interplay between global supply chains and sustainability issues.
Upon completion of the module, students should be able to understand how multinational corporations manage their activities worldwide. They should also be able to grasp the nature of global challenges and their far-reaching implications for management, organizations, individuals, and the environment. As a result, students will become familiar with formulating effective global strategies that multinational corporations can
employ to create global value.

The learning approach encompasses various methods such as lectures, experiential learning, group discussions, individual and assignments, problem-solving activities, and case studies. While attendance is not mandatory, it is highly recommended. Each session constitutes an essential component of the entire module. Students are expected to actively participate in the sessions. This implies more than just attending; it entails engaging in group discussions and contributing actively. In instances where students are required to prepare materials beforehand, they should make every effort to fulfill the requirement.
Verifica Apprendimento
- Written Exam (open-ended theoretical questions) on the topics covered during the lectures.
The questions aim to assess both understanding and comprehension of the topics covered during the course.
The duration of the written exam is 60 minutes.The weight of the written exam grade is equal to 70% of the final grade.
- GROUP WORK (analysis of a single case study). The focus of the group work is to map the global value chain of a specific firm, seeking to understand how both technological and sustainable dimensions affect the configuration of the supply chain).
Note that the points obtained in the group work will be considered valid only after reaching the minimum score of 18/30 in the written exam.
The questions aim to assess both understanding and comprehension of the topics covered during the course.
