Obiettivi Formativi
The educational objectives of the course are the following:
- To provide students the necessary understanding of the scope and function of operations management and global supply chain theory and practice.
- To provide students the necessary understanding regarding the strategic role of digital technologies in the process of optimizing global supply chains and how decision makers can deal with these changes.
- To provide students the necessary understanding of “how to” design and management resilient global value chains.
Upon completition of the course students should be able to explain how multinational corporations manage their activities around the globe, understanding the nature of global challenge and implication for management and organization, and identify different global strategies applicable by multinational corporations to generate global value.

Lecturer, learning by doing, discussions, individual/group assignments, problem-solving activities, case studies.
Attendance is not compulsory but strongly recommended. Each session forms an integral and essential part of the unit as a whole. Students are expected to contribute to sessions: this does not mean simply turning up and letting others do the work but playing an active role in group discussions. If asked to prepare material in advance, students should make every effort to do so.

Verifica Apprendimento
The overall grade includes 2 assessments:
1) Written Exam (open-ended theoretical questions) on the topics covered during the lectures. The questions aim to assess both understanding and comprehension of the topics covered during the course. The duration of the written exam is 90 minutes. The weight of the written exam grade is equal to 70% of the final grade.
2) Group Work (presentation or essay). The focus of the group work is to map the global value chain of a specific firm, seeking to understand how both technological and sustainable dimensions affect the configuration of the supply chain). The weight of the group work is equal to 30% of the final grade.
Note that the points obtained in the group work will be considered valid only after reaching the minimum score of 18/30 in the written exam.

This course provides knowledge on the strategic role of operations management across global supply chains in today's global business. Particular attention will be paid on how the technological and sustainable challenges facing businesses influence both design and management of global supply chains.
