The course aims to provide students with some bibliographic and critical tools useful for the identification of the contribution by Benedetto Croce (1866-1952) to studies on Dante and, more generally, to the history of literary criticism, also from a theoretical point of view.
Course Prerequisites
Knowledge of the basic notions of history of Italian literature is required
Teaching Methods
The course essentially develops in frontal lessons, but there are also readings and shared comments of texts by the author to whom the course is dedicated. In some cases, the exhibition and comment, during the course, of short critical essays, agreed with the teacher and autonomously carried out, can be requested from students.
Assessment Methods
Oral exam, aimed at ascertaining the actual acquisition of the main skills, including the ability to propose a reconstruction documented on the debate on Dante's work in relation to the reading of B. Croce (keeping in mind the texts in question in the course) . Personal contribution will also be taken to the discussions and any exhibitions made during the lessons.
