The course aims to describe and study the extraction and analytical techniques relating to the isolation and characterization of secondary metabolites of medicinal plants.
Course Prerequisites
It is advisable to take the Pharmacognosy and Phytotherapy exam before attending the course.
Teaching Methods
The teaching includes a theoretical part with lectures and a practical part in the laboratory.
Assessment Methods
The assessment of learning will be carried out through an oral exam.

Contents
The main classes of plant secondary metabolites (alkaloids, polyphenols, saponins and essential oils), extraction methods and analytical techniques related to identification and dosage will be discussed.
