The course aims to give competences and knowledge in order to: a) manage medical devices inside the pharmacy, b) provide services related to medical devices inside the "Pharmacy of Services" evolution (i.e. ECG, blood glucose monitoring, COVID-19 analyses and vaccination, etc). Deliverables: a) competences in buying and dispensing medical devices in the frame of “"Pharmacy of Services", b) competences in using medical devices and setting up a diagnostic service in a community pharmacy

No special prerequisites are required.
Teaching Methods
Frontal lectures; seminars hold by experts from pharmaceutical companies and agencies/institutions; group works (flipped classes) followed by discussion and round-table. For students with specific needs who are unable to attend in-person educational activities and have applied for Inclusive Educational Methods, appropriate learning materials will be made available for effective independent study. If requested, self-learning can be supported by tutoring or supplementary teaching activities, as well as dedicated meetings, including online sessions, with flexible scheduling based on the students' needs.
Assessment Methods
Final report of the student on a chosen topic, with oral presentation and discussion.

- Introduction to the field of medical devices, definitions (therapeutic, diagnostic, active, passive, of substance), marketing and manufacturing at national and international level. - Regulatory framework of medical devices, European legislation. - Medical devices exclusively for hospital use. - The intermediate distribution (activities of integrative assistance in community pharmacy) and the medical devices involved (i.e. devices for the determination of blood sugar, devices for incontinence,stoma care products, etc). - Cases study (performances in the "Pharmacy of Services" evolution). COVID-19 swabs and vaccination. Telemedicine services (HTN electrocardiogram, cardiac and pressor holter) - Health Technology Assessment process: focus on e-Health - Technical seminars of medical device manufacturers.
