The pharmacist, in carrying out his profession, may find himself facing small or large health emergencies. The course aims to provide students with the knowledge that will enable them to face those situations in the best way possible. Particular attention will be paid to issues concerning the specific field of competence of the pharmacist, meaning drugs and antidotes necessary in these situations, especially those that can be used in first aid. The course does not replace traditional first aid courses, BLS or BLSD courses with the contents of which overlaps only to a small extent.

General rules of conduct in various emergencies, the emergency call and the activation of the health emergency service. The principles and techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation with AED. Neurological, cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic emergencies: what to do in out-of-hospital first aid. Traumatic pathologies and mechanisms of injury (wounds, haemorrhages). Small trauma and small injuries Tetanus. Foreign bodies and hemorrhages. Stings and bites from poisonous animals. Rabies. Poisonings and intoxications. Poisoning from substances of abuse (classic and new generation ones). Alcohol intoxication.
