To introduce the student to the techniques as thermoanalytical, microscopic, spectroscopic and X-ray diffractometric analyses, used for the solid state studies, applicable in preformulation and formulation studies for the development and quality control of active ingredients, excipients and final pharmaceutical forms.
Course Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of physical-chemistry
Teaching Methods
Lectures and practical exercises for the solid state characterization of a drug or an excipient with the DSC, the TG / DSC simultaneous and thermooptical microscopy. For students with specific needs, who cannot attend in person the teaching activities and who have applied for Inclusive Teaching Methods, the professor will provide teaching material suitable for independent study. If requested, self-learning can be supported by supplementary teaching activities and dedicated meetings, also online, with flexible hours depending on the needs.
Assessment Methods
Obligatory frequency for practical exercises and a written final examination or the examination written on the dates of the official appeals. The examination provides open questions. Appropriate exam modalities are provided for students falling within the categories of Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) and Special Educational Needs (SEN).
