Unit A: The aim of this course is to provide the student a basic knowledge of the principles of Information & Communication Technology Management in the sanitary field. To that end, learning will be reinforced through the explanation of the most common technologies and useful techniques during the various management phases. Every topic is developed through case study analysis.

Unit A - 2: Technologies Data Storage; RAID architecture; Relational DBMS (RDBMS); Database and Instance; Network: Structured Wiring; TCP/IP basics; subnetting; routing; ARP; DHCP; switched Ethernet; wireless LAN; Application Architecture: centralized, client/server, distributed; DNS service; directory service; Security: firewall; IDP and IPS; VLAN; NAT; proxy; cluster; working mechanism and typologies.
Unit A - 3: Management SLA definition; availability; security and performance; technological solution planning; technical considerations; TCO; IT contracts; practical lessons; dimensioning and database restore examples; Internet access architectures; process definition; outline of project management.
