The course aims to acquaint students with the basic principles of Psychology, giving them the conceptual tools necessary to tackle even more advanced courses in the curriculum at the academic level. In general, the student will be introduced to the scientific method as the basic systematic approach common to all scientific disciplines and the basic mechanisms that guide human behavior. The student at the end of the course will be expected to know the main mechanisms underlying human behavior as well as to be able to understand and critically evaluate the various theories addressed and the research methods belonging to psychology.

Teaching Methods
The course will include theoretical lectures and practical activities to apply the concepts learned. Students will be encouraged to think critically about different theories and consider how they can be applied in real-world contexts to improve psychological well-being and promote adaptive behaviors.
Assessment Methods
Learning will be tested through a written examination consisting of multiple choice questions. The duration of the test is 45 minutes and the test is graded in thirtieths

Contents
During the course, the various theoretical orientations underlying the study of emotions, personality and psychological well-being will be covered, exploring how these approaches can guide and influence human behavior. The main theories of emotions, including biological, psychological and social models, and how emotions influence perception, thought and action will be analyzed. The course will examine different perspectives on personality, including psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive and humanistic theories, and discuss the role of personality in determining behavior and psychological well-being.
The course further aims to deepen knowledge of the fundamental cognitive and metacognitive processes underlying behavior.
