At the end of the course the student will be able to read and analyze short socio-political texts. On an oral level, he/she will be able to describe (at the present, future and past tenses) his/her interests and preferences, his /her field of studies and will be able also to talk about his/her travels.
Course Prerequisites
Students are expected to have passed the exam of Arabic 1, first degree. It is requested a basic knowledge of the language (40 hours classes): the equational sentence and its constituents and the verbal sentence.
Teaching Methods
Lectures (grammar exercises, reading and comprehension of authentic texts) and group interaction actvities. With regard to inclusive teaching methods, students who have been certified to be in the conditions required by the University regulations (https://portale.unipv.it/it/didattica/servizi-lo-studente/modalita-didattiche-inclusive) will be given guidance on preparing for the exam independently as well as availability for dedicated receptions.
Assessment Methods
The exam consists of written and oral tests. The written exam will consist in a written comprehension and in grammar exercises. The use of the dictionary is not allowed. The oral exam will consist in reading one of the Arabic texts, a question about the text to be read (M Ruthven, Islam a very short Introduction, 1997) and in a conversation with the mother tongue teacher. .

Contents
Subjects of the second module are: the dual and the plural of the noun, tenses and moods of the arabic verb (al-mudari' al-marfu', al-madi, al-mudari' al-mansub, the verb kana). Activities as reading and comprehension will concern texts on the Arabic contemporary society (political systems, international meetings and relationships, introduction to the Arabic press (newspapers and networks).
