Some aspects of the history of classical texts and their reception in the modern and contemporary age in the literary and more generally artistic fields will be addressed, through the presentation of some significant examples. Above all, students will have to acquire a research methodology in the thematic fields addressed during the lessons.
Course Prerequisites
Good knowledge of Greek and Latin literature and and a broad knowledge of the history of the transmission of classical texts.

Assessment Methods
During the final meetings, each student will present a presentation based on a written paper on a specific topic, chosen independently from those not covered in class and agreed upon with the instructor. This presentation may be accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation. The exam will consist of a discussion of two case studies from those covered in class and/or during seminars led by Dr. Silvia Speriani.

Contents
After a presentation of the concepts of tradition and reception and an illustration of the main lines of reception theory, some case studies will be addressed on the fortunes of certain authors and literary figures from antiquity to the present day.
