The course aims to develop an autonomous operational capacity with regard to the current methodologies and instruments used in a laboratory of physics of matter and spectroscopy. The expected result is the ability to conceive and prepare a measurement experiment suitable for the problem posed.
Course Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of electromagnetism and optics is required.
Teaching Methods
After presenting the aims and methods to be used, students will be asked to carry out the proposed experiments in groups . A continuous interaction will therefore be maintained during the work in terms of comments, suggestions and insights into the problems that have arisen.
Assessment Methods
The discussion of a report on an experiment chosen by the student among those performed will be requested. This discussion may also offer a starting point for pointing out the general use of some devices used in the course.
Texts
The framework of the topics covered and of the experiments will be provided in the form of slides and short handouts, together with the technical material concerning the tools.
Contents
The realization of a series of experiments concerning optics and diffraction, the decomposition and reconstruction of images, the use of noise suppression techniques, some measurements on the transport and optical properties in solids will be proposed.
Course Language
Italian
More information
Attendance at laboratory activities is obviously an essential condition for achieving the objectives of the course. Working students or those who have impediments to attendance can contact the teacher directly to agree on times, contents and methods that can accommodate the different needs in the specific case.
