Obiettivi Formativi

The present course will help the student to navigate into the biopsychosocial aspects of aging, pinpointing all the elements associated with gender throughout the life course of individuals (epidemiology of diseases, pathophysiology of conditions, differences in symptomatology and clinical presentations, pharmacological response). In addition, the students will learn how reproductive history modulates several components of health and diseases from intrauterine life to menopause and beyond, in order to capture the key-concept of transgenerational medicine, an essential part of care (prevention and treatment) of healthy individuals across the life span and in aging people. This course will allow the students to develop an understanding of the relevance of the gender in health and disease to develop abilities to design research taking into account the gender variable and to achieve a better knowledge of the gender issue in the development of public policy concerning health and health care.

Prerequisiti

Basic knowledge of physiology of aging.

Metodi didattici

Face-to-face teaching and practical activities with final discussion in classroom. Classroom lectures, flipped lectures, case studies, journal clubs and seminars.

Verifica Apprendimento

E.g. for a research seminar: Contact hours Exams 90 % Presentation 10% Research seminar paper Other TOTAL 100% Multiple choice questions. Based on the exam, number of correct answers. The exam is marked out of thirtieth and with possible honors. The final grade of the Integrated Health Management and Geroscience will be a weighted Biaverage between the different modules (Transgenerational Medicine and Gendered Aging 2 ECTS, Big Data analytics 3 ECTS, Health Risk Management 3 ECTS, Risk Management 3 ECTS, From Mother Womb to Adolescence 1 ECTS, Geroscience the intersection of basic aging Biology chronic diseases and life style medicine for sustainable health 2 ECTS, Surgical Application of Biotechnologies 1 ECTS). The honors obtained in the different modules is worth 31. Any decimals in the final mark are rounded according to the mathematical rule. The grades for individual modules do not expire.
