The aim of the course is to acquire the techniques and to develop the skills necessary for finding, understanding and processing information for the purpose of producing some of the most common forms of written texts aimed at academic and/or non-specialist readers.
Course Prerequisites
A good knowledge of written and spoken Italian.
Teaching Methods
ectures and classroom exercises, cooperative learning with preparatory work in small groups. In particular, to understand the various types of texts analysed, various physical resources (e.g. bibliography present in the Department Library) and multimedia (e.g. online resources, open access bibliography, etc.) will be used. The writing tests will be carried out partly in class and partly as individual preparation outside of class hours. Students will be encouraged to find their own modus operandi and writing style, to enhance individual differences and characteristics. Teachers and/or tutors will be available for individual correction of the texts being practiced, so as to be able to direct each student according to their specific difficulties.
Assessment Methods
Written papers which must be submitted at least 15 days before the chosen exam date. Students will have to submit four texts = 4.000 words (eight texts in case of non-attending students = 8.000 words) of different typologies chosen from those discussed during the course.
Texts
Due to the absence of specific technical bibliography on the writing of musicological texts, no specific reference texts will be provided. Models for the types of texts discussed will be communicated during the course.
Contents
The course will focus mainly on the most common forms of written communication of a scientific nature (e.g. conference abstracts, research projects, book reviews, bibliographic entries), also through critical readings of scientific articles, and on the production of texts for scientific dissemination or intended for a non-specialist audience.
Course Language
